Japan was supposed to be just another stop on our travels, but it immediately became the place we measured everywhere else against. We’ve found ourselves going back every year since.

It wasn’t just the big landmarks. It was the everyday things that pulled us in. The trains, the side streets, late-night konbini runs, small ramen shops, getting lost, and all the details you don’t think much about until you’re back home and missing them.

The more time we spent there, the more we noticed the style too. People dressed with intention. Even simple outfits felt put together in a way that stood out.

One afternoon in Osaka, we kept noticing tees with American cities, English lettering, and Western references worked into really good outfits. It made us think about doing the opposite. What would it look like to take the places, moments, and everyday details we loved about Japan and turn them into quality apparel we’d actually want to wear?

That idea became Kitsu.
